Reactions
The thermal decomposition of tetrahydrate iron(II) iodide produces iron(II) hydroxide-iodide, hydrogen iodide, and water:
- FeI2•4H2O → Fe(OH)I + HI + 3 H2O
This reaction takes place at a temperature of over 100 °C.
