Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov

Admiral Flota Kasatonov (Russian: Адмирал флота Касатонов) is an Admiral Gorshkov class frigate of the Russian Navy and the second ship of the class.[2] She was laid down on 26 November 2009[3] and launched on 12 December 2014.[4] She was commissioned on 21 July 2020.[5] The ship is named after Hero of the Soviet Union Vladimir Kasatonov.

The frigate is assigned to the Russian Northern Fleet[6][7] and in 2020 acquired the new hull number, 461.[8] Following her commissioning, the frigate conducted anti-submarine exercises in the Barents Sea and fired a Kalibr cruise missile from the White Sea against a ground target located at a training range in the Arkhangelsk region.[9]

She left the homeport Severomorsk for the maiden distant deployment on 30 December 2020 along tug Nikolay Chiker under the command of the Captain of the 1st rank Vladimir Malakhovsky.[10] On 14 January 2021 the ship entered the Mediterranean Sea through the Strait of Gibraltar.[11][12] On 18 January 2021 she payed a visit to Algeria.[13] The accompanying tug Nikolay Chiker has visited Cyprus on 26th January 2021.[14] Both ships visited Greek port Piraeus on 3 February 2021.[15]
