Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department

The Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the city of Tempe, Arizona.[1] The TFMRD responded to 21,772 incidents during 2013, with 82% being for emergency medical services. The department protects an area of 40.5 square miles (105 km2), which includes Arizona State University, and services a population of just over 162,677 people.[1] Additionally, the TFMRD has mutual aid agreements with 26 other fire departments in the Phoenix area.[4]

In 2013, the department changed its name to Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department to "more accurately portray to the citizens the services that our organization provides to the community."[1]
